Day 2

Today we started the day bright and early at 7 am! We spent our morning in a very poor area near our hotel, just outside of Managua. We went door to door gathering a census of the area and getting a feel for how these people live. Knowing the conditions in which they sleep, eat, prepare food and use the restroom will help us assess them better while we are in the clinic for the next few days. After a few hours of gathering some information and spending time in the living areas of this population, we returned to the church where we will set up our clinic and had some lunch. After this, we returned to our hotel where our doctor lectured for about an hour on pharmacology so we are prepared for clinic in the morning! He talked about various disease types and the medications and dosages required for each one. During the afternoon, we spent a few hours hiking up to a volcano and it was GORGEOUS! It was a sweaty, dirty and beautiful hike. We returned home, cleaned up and had some dinner at a restaurant with Nicaraguan food. We are all so excited to start in the clinic tomorrow! Everyone is getting a lot more comfortable with speaking spanish and getting to know the people of Nicaragua. We are all so blessed to be here and be able to be a part of this organization.
